Knowledge about food is considered to be beneficial not only for food choice and healthy weight reduction but also as it concerns long-term implications for general health. A healthy diet can help to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases and promote overall health. Thus aiming girl students and Female faculties of the institute, Women Development Cell, Government Engineering College, Modasa had Organized an Expert talk (under RUSA Component-9 ) on” Diet and Nutrition for today’s Women” on 26th September,2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Dr.Jalpa H.Shah (M.S. Gynaecologist) . About more than 100 girl students and female faculties had attended the session. The session started with Prayer. Prof. Nisha V.Bora, Head-WDC, welcomed the expert Dr.Jalpa Shah on behalf of Women development cell, GEC-Modasa. She briefly explained about the activities of Women Development Cell. She also explained about the the four pillars of healthy happy and successful life. Prof. B.C.Katri gave brief idea how equity and gender sensitization campaign under RUSA works for the girl’s student by providing fund to organize different activities like Personality Development, Health related issues and carrier related guidelines, etc. Dr.B.J.Shah , Principal highlighted the various activities of the institute. He explained the necessity of WDC in institute and showed the readiness and enthusiasm for empowering and betterment of girls and female faculty members. Dr.Jalpa H.Shah started her talk with importance of today’s woman leading a life which is catering to various domains starting from family to profession to social arenas and lot more. While performing multiple roles, she does not have time to think about her health. She gave awareness about a need of different nutrition during different phases of life. She also explained about importance of balanced diet which includes the nutrients it needed for proper functioning of various parts of human body. She narrated as to how imbalanced diet is harmful for our body and insist to avoid junk food, packed food,etc. she gave a key rule for healthy diet by nicely explaining quote “-Breakfast like king, Lunch like prince and dinner like pauper”.She ended the session by giving satisfactory answers to the doubt raised by students as well as by faculties. After Expert talk Prof. Binita Vyas gave votes of thanks. The event concluded by certificate distribution to the girls by Principal sir.
